Residence Life Resources
Behind Closed Doors: Scenarios for Residence Life Training
Behind Closed Doors (BCD) is a role-playing training exercise used in Residence Life (ResLife) where Resident Assistants (RAs) practice responding to real-life campus scenarios, such as roommate conflicts or mental health crises, in a controlled setting.
This resource expands on that model by giving ResLife staff the opportunity to simulate interactions with residents who may have experienced hazing and to practice appropriate response strategies.
Bulletin Board: Spot the Signs
Many Resident Assistants use bulletin boards as a way to educate and engage their residents. This interactive bulletin board can help students reflect on the signs of healthy and unhealthy group behaviors they may have experienced or could experience in organizations, teams, or clubs.

Use these ready-to-use social media graphics to post on your own channels and accounts to raise awareness about hazing and its prevention.

StopHazing’s mission is to promote safe and inclusive school, campus, and organizational environments through research, resource sharing, and the development of data-driven strategies for hazing prevention and the promotion of positive and inclusive group climates.
Hazing is any activity expected of someone joining or participating in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them, regardless of a person’s willingness to participate.
I pledge to:
- Never participate in or condone hazing in any form.
- Stand up to hazing and take action if I see or suspect hazing.
- Support and protect those who come forward to report hazing.
- Uphold the dignity and respect of every member in my organization and campus community.
- Lead by example as a student, leader, and community member by promoting healthy group dynamics and creating safe, inclusive environments for all.
By signing this pledge, I commit to fostering a culture of belonging, safety, and accountability, and to advocating for a community free from hazing.
